David's Brief- Happy Birthday Song

 For this one day brief we had to produce a 4 panel story where each panel is part of the happy birthday song. The panels must be square and you can' have more than 4. To start off we  brainstormed ideas, these are the ideas that I came up with. My thumbnails usually only make sense to me, but I felt I had some strong ideas here. I then selected the idea that I was going to use which was the bottom left idea.

I then created my final version. 

I'm quite pleased with the results, I think its readable and fun. I think I should have scanned in my idea to not lose any quality. I like my use of 2 ,mediums, pens and pencils, to separate the foreground and background and get some texture. I also like how I added light and dark to the all green mantis'. 

If I was going to do this again I think I could have done more dynamic poses and gotten a bit more creative visually, as they are a bit samey. David thought that in the final frame I should have had the actual mantis head coming off and flying out the frame; although I disagree, I could have tried drawing it out to see how it would look.
