Pages 5-8
I am back on my blog to share my progress on pages 5-8 out of 16!
Page 5:
Page 5 is the most detailed page I have created so far, this is because It is an establishing shot and will hopefully give the viewer a good feel for the setting. I have asked for feedback once again on all of these pages. For this page I received feedback from David that It would be good if there was more detail on the shutters of the windows, to make it clearer that they are shutters. Here is the original iteration:
I have attempted to make the changes suggested however, I think I need to do even more, so I may return to this page and try to implement the changes a little better but here is what the final outcome currently looks like:
I haven't received feedback on this yet and so I am not sure what my tutors think to the changes.
This might be my favourite page so far, I love the style I have chosen and I think its really effective , however I worry that it does not quite demonstrate the paranoia that I would like? When I showed this to my tutors they did not have any suggested changes so I think it is fit for purpose. My fellow student suggested I change the eyes a little to show more white of the eye, I did implement this change but unfortunately neglected to keep a copy of the previous version- It was a good tip and improved the page.
Page 7: I had a lot of issues creating this page, the perspective felt all off and I wasn't happy with it for a long time, but I think its reached a point where it is of good enough quality. My tutors did not suggest any changes, but I discussed it with fellow peers on the course to see what they had to say. Unfortunately I once again neglected to save all previous versions but the main changes I made was to the window and to the perspective, I decided a more zoomed in shot would be more appropriate ( and hide some flaws that I couldn't seem to get right), other students agreed with these changes.
Page 8: This page Only has one iteration at the moment, but before I print I will be going back in to make the same changes I will make to page 6 in regards to the shutters, as I have not yet tweaked these for this image. Here is the current iteration which is most of the way there. I have chosen a funny angle because I wanted it to seem like you were peering onto the street through a window, I am not sure if this comes across or not but its something a bit different to keep the audience engaged with the book, or so I hope!
Reflection: These pages feel a little less finished than the first 4, with some changes still to make. I definitely struggled more on these pages, perhaps just due to the more difficult subject matter, I don't have much experience drawing architecture. I will be coming back and updating this blog to show any other iterations that I may make. I am still pleased with where this project is heading, I think the style is fairly consistent and I am providing a lot of variety between pages to hopefully keep the viewer engaged. I am also glad to say that I am still on top of schedule, in fact if anything I'm a bit ahead on the folded format work! So that's great news.
